Find A Listener Who's A Poet & Didn't Know It
Each day, have a DJ announce the first line of an incomplete verse.
Invite listeners to call in with humorous endings. Think of current
events for ideas. Pick the best two or three endings each day and award
small prizes.

Pick a topic -- something hot in the news -- do a different one each day...
Station someone with a microphone out on busy intersections/sidewalks and
ask passersby their comments. Pick out the best ones and play back in
another daypart (preferably p.m. drive) and, again, the next morning as a
springboard for the next question. You could make it a self-actuated bit by
stationing a microphone and recorder at a drive-thru and letting people make
their comments as they pick up their breakfast. Good newscast closer.

(take off on hilarious). A Hillary Clinton lookalike contest. Good for
AC's or a midday promotion. Pass out headband, scarves and opinions. Good
tie-in with a ladies dress shop or after-work office party.

Lotta Lotto/Pick 'Em Power
Based on the state lottery "pick 6" concept. Pre-determine 6 numbers (i.e.
1,12,32,42,55,99) between 1 and your station's frequency (like 104 for
FM104). Listeners guess 6 numbers and are told how many they have right and
wrong. Each round, X amount is added to the jackpot amount. Winner gets
jackpot plus X number of lottery tickets. Tie in retailers by displaying
one of the numbers at various locations (never display no more than 3
total). The examples "Deep Sea Six" and "Super Bowl Six" could be used as
giveaway vehicles for things like ocean trips and Super Bowl tickets.

Veterans Day Community Sing
Put a call out for all the local vets. Ask them to participate in a
Veterans Day sing-a-long. On courthouse steps, in a park, at 12 noon on the
federal building lawn, wherever. Pick one song and only one song --
something that's an image match for you, like "God Bless the USA" for AC's
or Country's. Play the song in a higher rotation so they can learn the
words. Have at least one practice session. Bring in a professional choir
director to maximize the impact.

Play a CD at triple speed. First to guess what it is, wins.
(06-17-09)
Phone bit on the interesting things spouses do to get their other half
"interested"...

KXXX's Celebrity For A Day
Arrange for a listener to receive the media attention normally given only to
superstars like Madonna. Involve a TV station and produce a "Day in the
Life" news feature of a listener who wins a random drawing. The tongue-
in-cheek report could start with the winner crawling out of bed, eating
breakfast, etc. After the report, give the "celebrity" a recording of the
tape and a VCR to play it on.

A Grateful Dead promotion. Mark off a large space you can subdivide into
one foot squares and number. Give away those "numbers" on-air and, then,
have a parachutist skydive on to those spaces. The one he lands on wins its
number-holder a Dead-oriented concert package. Great for publicity.

A Day In The Life Of A DJ
Listeners send in a letter stating why they would want to win a day in the
life of a DJ (they can also send audition tapes if the station desires). The
winner receives: a day's pay on-air time at the station any records he
steals from the music library yelled at the program director for talking;
etc.
(06-17-09)
"Lock" an imaginary someone in the trunk of a car. Listeners have to guess
who to win.
(06-17-09)
Create a weekend back-to-school package that includes sponsorships of
special "Class Reunion" programming. Use music and trivia from past years
to program segments or entire weekends. Besides traditional clothing
retailers tie-in stores that sell appliances furniture and computers. Start
the reunion Friday at 5 p.m. Continue it through Monday at midnight. Start
promoting the special weekend on Wednesday with value-added client mentions.
(06-17-09)
Take a typical trivia-style game. Do a two-line male vs. female battle.
Throw whichever sex wins the most over the (week/month) a party.
(06-17-09)
One DJ issues an endurance challenge to another DJ (example: morning and
evening). Listeners phone in suggestions for what this challenge could be;
it will be a bicycle challenge. One DJ says he wants medical attention close
by so they will ride tandem bicycles with a nurse on the back of each one.
Provide a chase car with a DJ to broadcast progress; hook each biker up with
a wireless so they can communicate with chase car.
(06-17-09)
Hold a World's Largest Blind Date promotion. Give 500 listeners tickets to
attend a movie premiere. As the ticket holders enter the theater select 20
to participate in the promotion. Give each male participant an envelope
with a number in it. Give female participants envelopes with corresponding
numbers. Before the movie begins lead the participants to the front of the
theater and introduce them to their blind dates for the evening. After the
movie have the winners rejoin their dates. Have 10 limousines waiting to
take the couples to dinner at a nice restaurant.
(06-17-09)
Offer extra dollars if listeners call back in (half) the allotted time.
